Certifications: Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

Must-Have: Candidates must be familiar with chest tubes and drips. Must have experience in a mixed cardiovascular floor with step-down capabilities.

Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.

Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.

Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments while noting all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.

Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.

Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary.

Administers medication as prescribed.

Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.

Delivers patient care competently.

Interacts with patients and their families in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at the time of discharge.

Informs patients and families about hospital procedures.

Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.

Delegates tasks to support staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Candidates must have half med/surg and half step-down experience.

Experience in cardiac rehabilitation and pre/post procedures, along with cardiac stabilization, is required.

Must be able to interpret EKGs and monitor rhythms and rates.

Collaboration with cardiac rehabilitation, education, and discharge planning is essential.

Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures is required.

Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.

Must maintain good working relationships with colleagues.

Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.

Some computer skills are preferred.

Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required.

Preferred education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a Board Approved Program.

Preferred certifications and licensure are not applicable for this position.
