Description:
The unit has 9 labor and delivery beds, 3 swing rooms, and 2 operating rooms.
It features 3 bed OBED.
Patient ratios are 1-2.
Staffing includes a unit secretary, scrub tech, dedicated CRNA, and midwife in-house 24/7, with an OBGYN on call.
The documentation systems used are CPN and Meditech.
There are scheduling requirements of 4 weekend shifts per month.
Floating to M/B or outside department tasks may occur.
The unit aims to remain above 75% in patient experience measures.
Required certifications include RN, ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring.
The dress code consists of hot pink and black uniforms.
Black may be worn on the bottom, but hot pink is preferred on top.

The department has been recognized as a unit of distinction.
It was a pilot hospital for certain quality initiatives.
The laborist team model includes 24/7 midwives, dedicated CRNA, and an on-call OB.
Personalizing each birth experience according to patient desires and needs is a priority.
Couplet care is performed in the postpartum unit to ensure newborns stay with their parents.
Support for breastfeeding is available, including donor milk if needed.
An 8-bed level 2 NICU with a dedicated NNP is available 24/7.
NNP attendance for all high-risk deliveries is ensured when necessary.
