Job Description:

– Work in an oncology unit with a capacity of 21 beds, though the current patient census is around 8-12.
– Collaborate with a dedicated team, including 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1 Patient Care Technician per shift.
– Responsible for managing patient ratios, flexing between 1:3 and 1:5.
– Utilize Baxter pumps and Meditech electronic medical records (EMR) system.
– Perform procedures such as replacing blood and electrolytes.
– Maintain a compassionate approach to patient care.
– Float between oncology units, including hematology-oncology and bone marrow transplant areas as needed.
– Adhere to dress code by wearing royal blue scrubs.
– Follow unit guidelines and policies, including neutropenic precautions, strict intake and output monitoring, chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) baths, and linen changes every 24 hours.
– Conduct dressing changes every 7 days and line and cap changes every 96 hours.
– Ensure no children under 16 are allowed in patient areas.
– Participate in a schedule with rotating weekends; no on-call requirement.
