– Proficiency in perioperative nursing practice
– Ability to scrub and circulate preferred
Description:
RN First Assistant is a highly trained registered nurse who must have both CNOR certification and must have completed an accredited RNFA program.
The RNFA collaborates with the surgeon and the healthcare team to perform safe operations with optimal outcomes for patients.
Practices perioperative nursing and must possess the necessary knowledge, skill, and judgment specific to the clinical practice in the operating room and in the RNFA role.
The RNFA practices in collaboration with and under the direction of the surgeon during the operative phase of the perioperative experience.
When not assigned in the RNFA role, the RN performs the duties of an operating room staff RN.
Robotic surgery experience is preferred, including specialties such as robotic urology, robotic gynecology, robotic colorectal, robotic surgical oncology, robotic thoracic, and robotic general surgery.
The work schedule includes alternating day, evening, and night shifts, with every other weekend, holidays, on-call, and charge responsibilities as needed by the unit.
Must have proven scrubbing and circulating experience.
CNOR certification is required, along with the completion of an accredited RN First Assistant course.
