– Ability to float occasionally to pre-op
Description:
This position involves preparing patients for surgery and ensuring their safe recovery.
The unit has an average daily census of 20 patients across 12 beds.
Patients range from infants to adults, including a small pediatric population.
Most cases involve orthopedic, gynecological, urological, general, spine, vascular surgeries, and some eye procedures.
Common procedures include tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies, as well as pediatric emergency cases such as testicular torsion.
Travelers are typically not assigned to manage infants or pediatric vents, as those cases are promptly transferred out.
Weekend shifts are required, with two to three weekends every six weeks.
On-call duties may include weekday shifts, approximately every fifth or sixth night, based on unit needs.
All staff report to work at staggered times, with the last two nurses covering late cases until the unit closes.
Orientation duration is 24 hours.
Scrubs will be provided.
