Experience with fresh open heart post-op patients
Transplant experience
Experience with devices such as Aquadex, Impella, ECMO
EPIC experience
Ability to float to PICU as discussed during the interview

Description:
This is a position for an RN in the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
The unit has a total of 20 beds, divided into two mirrored sides with 10 beds each.
The nurses’ station is centralized, allowing for close monitoring of the most critical patients.
Patient population primarily includes ages 0-18 with congenital heart differences.
Common diagnoses include surgical patients, those receiving medical management pre-transplant, and post-transplant patients.
Nurse-to-patient ratios will vary based on patient acuity, typically ranging from 1:1 to 2:1.
Support within the department includes a health care tech assigned daily for unit duties and assistance to nursing staff.
There is a unit secretary present on each shift and charge nurses available for support.
Phlebotomy services are available in-house, but most patients will have central lines.
An IV/VAT team is present to assist as needed.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, as are cardiologists and intensivists.
Telemetry monitoring is centralized and performed bedside, utilizing Phillips monitors.
Float requirements include the potential to float to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as needed.
Orientation will include 2 days of departmental training.
Scheduling includes weekend rotation every other weekend or fewer as needed.
There is a call requirement based on previous dates, and travelers are expected to work a percentage of holidays.
RTO requests will require manager approval.
Scrub color is navy.
