Description:
The competent nurse practices independently in a similar clinical setting.
Provides routine and complex care with the ability to focus on long-range goals.
Continues to develop skills to manage contingencies in clinical nursing.
Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to manage clinical situations.
Meets expectations of applicable competencies.
Consistent with Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care using the nursing process.
This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
Utilizes appropriate protocols to administer medications and treatments.
Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment.
Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers.
Identifies issues and resources for patient education.
