Must-Have:
Inpatient oncology experience
Blood/blood product administration skills
Infusion pump management
Starting IVs
Isolation and neutropenic precautions
Ability to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliates
Description:
The position involves providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in an oncology progressive care unit.
The team consists of nurses, physicians, patient care assistants, case managers, and unit support staff.
The unit specializes in caring for stable progressive care patients, patients with a history of cancer, end-of-life care, and inpatient hospice services.
Nurses will receive training in chemotherapy administration.
There is an opportunity to gain certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN).
Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, with no call required.
Floating is required for all travelers within the hospital or to nearby facilities.
Compliance with orientation and training protocols is mandatory.
All travelers are expected to work a minimum of two out of three major holidays.
Effective policies and practices must be followed to ensure a safe working environment.
