Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NIHSS, NRP
Must-Have:
– 3+ years of experience
– Proficiency in fetal monitoring and handling fetal distress
– Experience with C-sections
– Ability to care for patients with pre-eclampsia
– Clinical background in high-risk patients
– Competence in L&D and couplet care
Job Description:
– Orientation: 8 Hours, starting every Monday
– Work schedule includes night shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM
– Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
– Floating Requirement: May float to other units, such as Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical, if experienced
– Support staff includes Patient Care Technician, Health Unit Secretary, and OB scrub tech
– Respiratory Therapist available 24/7 in the unit
– OB/Neonatologist not in-house; nurses must effectively manage OB emergencies until the provider arrives
– 24/7 pharmacy services in-house
– Staffing and patient ratio typically 1:2
– Unit features: 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, 10 postpartum beds, 1-3 births per day, approximately 830 births per year
– Call requirement: One shift per 4-week schedule
– Familiarity with Allscripts – Sunrise charting system
– Trauma Level: 3
– Acute care setting
Additional Information:
– Extensions are frequently approved, with requests typically made 3-4 weeks in advance
– Manager response and clinician interviews are generally efficient
