Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Level 1
Job Specialty: Acute Care – Med/Surg
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Full-time, Day/Night rotations, every other weekend and holidays, with two on-call shifts every four weeks (3×12-hour shifts)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse
License: State RN Licensure required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Must-Have: Skill in cardiac care including telemetry monitoring
Job Description:
– Apply nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families.
– Assess patient needs and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, providing direct care and evaluating patient progress.
– Coordinate care delivery throughout the patient’s episode, developing specialized skills in cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring.
– Educate patients and families to assist them in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
– Promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment.
– Assess patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data obtained through direct observation and assessment, technology, or health team communication.
– Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members to set goals and monitor patient progress. Adjust the plan based on patient response or change in condition.
– Advocate for and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
– Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and use quality improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and influence care delivery.
– Engage in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas for professional development, and take accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills.
– Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
– Demonstrate skill in nursing interventions, including medication administration.
– Motivate patients and families by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home, assessing learning styles and structuring sessions to maximize understanding.
– Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to promote collaboration and achieve the best possible patient outcomes.
– Foster leadership awareness and promote positive change.
– Conduct patient rounds per protocol and utilize tools and equipment to keep patients and families informed, engaged, and safe.
– Prioritize forming meaningful connections with patients and families, and strive to understand their most important needs, acknowledging them as the central focus of all care and services.
