Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Medical Surgical
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Days 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours:
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
License: RN License in the state of employment or compact
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required from the American Heart Association
Must-Have: Willingness to work every other weekend or 5-6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
Job Description:
– Practice independently and demonstrate an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation.
– Provide routine and complex care, focusing on long-range goals or plans.
– Develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing.
– Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers.
– Utilize the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
– Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
– Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
– Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
– Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.
– Anticipate and plan for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
– Plan, direct, and evaluate overall nursing care and functions in a specific unit during an assigned shift.
– Promote a safe environment resulting in positive patient outcomes by incorporating safety practices.
– Participate in nursing research and quality improvement activities.
The position does not require on-call duties, but picking up additional shifts is allowed if interested. Floating to other units may be required based on census needs.
