**Job Description:**
– Independently practices nursing in a clinical setting and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation.
– Provides both routine and complex care with a focus on long-range goals or plans.
– Develops skills to manage and cope with clinical nursing contingencies.
– Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers.
– Provides nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
– Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
– Administers medications and treatments; monitors for side effects and effectiveness.
– Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
– Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
– Utilizes critical thinking skills to assess the physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
– Communicates findings to appropriate healthcare team members.
– Develops and modifies specific care plans to meet individual patient needs using evidence-based practices.
– Implements patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitors and documents treatment and teaching goals.
– Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions of the nursing unit during an assigned shift.
– Demonstrates good stewardship in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
– Assesses departmental staffing needs and participates in resourcing efforts.
– Educates and trains others on industry operations, ethics, and regulations.
– Incorporates patient safety practices to promote a safe environment resulting in positive patient outcomes.
– Demonstrates accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities.
– Communicates patient information effectively across the continuum of care.
– Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
– Shares experiences with processing medical orders and recognizes common errors and procedures for correction.
– Ensures that all medical equipment and supplies are in proper working order before use to ensure patient safety.
– Engages in continuous professional development and improvement of nursing care practices.
