Job Description:
– Work in a fast-paced and energetic environment committed to positive impact and patient care.
– Collaborate with a team consisting of charge nurses, CNAs, and unit secretaries.
– Manage and care for a diverse patient population with a focus on urology and bowel cases.
– Operate and manage various equipment including telemetry, PCA, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, and tube feeds.
– Perform typical unit procedures such as TPN administration, PCA, managing wound vacs, tube feeds including PEG tubes and dobhoffs, NG tubes, management of colostomies and urostomies.
– Handle different types of drains including biliary, JP, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, CBI; manage heparin drips and IV antibiotics.
– Assist with a variety of surgical procedures including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, podiatry, bowel resections, plastics, urology surgeries, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, oral/maxillary, thyroidectomies, and hernia repairs.
– Ensure effective communication with the charge nurse, unit secretary, providers, and CNA team.
– Maintain a professional dress code with navy blue pants and navy blue or white scrub top, and adhere to unit guidelines and policies.
– Partake in a rotating weekend schedule, fulfilling at least 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
