Description:
This position is in a unit with 32 beds.
Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-5 during the day and occasionally 5-6 at night.
Patients are primarily adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as cardiac catheterizations, pacemakers, COVID-19 related conditions, and general surgeries with cardiac history.
RNs are required to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine.
There is a charge nurse on each shift, who may occasionally take a light patient load.
Nurse aids and patient care techs aim for a 1:10 ratio.
RT equipment includes BiPap, trachs, and Airvo, with RNs required to troubleshoot.
There are tele/monitor techs available, with portable monitors and room monitors.
RNs must read and interpret their own strips.
Shifts are scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM, and weekend work is required every other weekend.
Holidays are also scheduled every other holiday.
Floating to other areas as helping hands or to take full patient loads may be required.
The dress code allows for any color scrubs.
Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts.
This is primarily a tele/cardiac unit.
